Principi di Butera, Caltanissetta, Italy
Geogravel was selected as a sustainable paving solution for the Principi di Butera estate, located in the province of Caltanissetta, southern Sicily.
Extending into the ancient confines of the Feudo Deliella fiefdom, the estate includes a centuries-old Baglio rural fortified farm that once belonged to the Princes of Butera. Since 1997, the Zonin family has restored and conserved the estate, which now features a winery, restaurant, and surrounding vineyards.
In their quest to enhance the estate's infrastructure while preserving its beauty and environmental integrity, our clients sought a sustainable solution for paving the parking and transit areas.
Our experts proposed Geogravel, a paving grid that combines the permeability of gravel with the stability of a paved surface, offering several advantages over asphalt:
- Maintains the natural water cycle of the land and prevents runoff,
- Reduces the heat island effect typically caused by asphalt,
- Supports pedestrian and vehicle traffic, handling loads of up to 400 t/m2.
As a result, Geogravel created functional, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing access areas that seamlessly blend with the estate's historic and natural surroundings.
